Bob Symington

Bob Symington obtained his Hons BSc. Applied Earth Science from the University of Waterloo, Canada in 1979 and was registered as a Professional Geologist in the province of Alberta in 1981.  Mr. Symington obtained his MSc. Hydrogeology in 1993 from University College London, England and is currently the principal of Gandalf Consulting Ltd in Vancouver, British Columbia.    

Mr. Symington spent most of his career in petroleum exploration as President of Gandalf Exploration Consultants Ltd.  During his 12 years in the oil patch, Mr. Symington concentrated in well-site geology and carbonate core studies and undertook contracts in Bangladesh and Dubai. 

Mr. Symington transferred his Professional Geologist designation to BC and is currently registered as a Professional Geoscientist and is also a Licensed Hydrogeologist in Washington State, USA.  Mr. Symington was appointed to the Roster of Professional Experts in 2006 by the Ministry of the Environment and presently sits on the Board of the Contaminated Sites Approved Professional Society and is Chair of the BCEIA Contaminated Sites Standing Committee.


Graham Walker

Graham Walker is a partner at the Vancouver, Canada office of Borden Ladner Gervais.  He is a graduate of the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Laws in 1993 and was admitted to the British Columbia bar in 1994.  Prior to this, Graham received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Victoria in 1989.

Mr. Walker practices as a litigation lawyer with a focus on maritime, environmental, and construction law.  He is a partner with the firm and an active member of the firm’s Marine, Environmental, and Construction & Engineering Practice Groups.

Mr. Stemp is a Certified Engineering Technician and holds a double major from the University of Victoria, British Columbia in Economics and Environmental Studies.  He has over 25 years experience in engineering technology, environmental consulting and contracting in both the private and public sector in Northern & Western Canada, Alaska and Mexico. 

Mr. Stemp’s expertise includes decommissioning and remedial projects at residential to industrial sites impacted with various compounds such as petroleum hydrocarbons, heavy metals, creosote, PCPs, PAHs, PCBs  and other non-aqueous phase liquids.  He has managed both large and small assignments including several of the largest remedial projects in BC involving multiple contaminant media and complex civil site works. 

Born in Alberta, Mr. Stemp grew up in Calgary, North Africa and the United Arab Emirates before moving to BC in 1985 where he now lives with his wife and two daughters.  Tim is an active member of the professional community and has held positions on a variety of boards, committees and associations including the Vancouver Island Chapter and the Pacific Northwest International Section of the Air and Waste Management Association and is a standing member of the Camosun College Environmental Program’s Advisory Committee. 

Mr. Stemp is currently the General Manager for Quantum Murray LP’s remediation operations in British Columbia.


John Lambert | P.Geo, CEA

John Lambert is a certified environmental auditor with 25 years of experience in environmental management systems (EMS), environmental auditing, contaminated site assessment and geological engineering.

He has lived in North America for over 20 years and has lived and/or worked in the USA, Canada, the UK, Mexico, the Czech Republic, Pakistan and Indonesia.   His industrial and commercial clients have included: coal and precious metal mines; large iron and steel complexes; oil refineries and tank farms;  gas transmission and distribution systems,; airports and marine facilities; national defence bases and training areas; waste handling facilities; manufacturing plants and electrical power generation plants.


Michael Lyons

Born and raised in Vancouver, Michael began his post-secondary education at Simon Fraser University, British Columbia at the Faculty of Arts and later attending Capilano College, where he earned diplomas in both Business Administration and Business Finance.

At the age of 23, Michael founded an electronic surveillance and security retailer called Lower Mainland Alarms.  He sold the company in early 2000 –the proceeds of which– allowed him the freedom to entertain several less structured entrepreneurial endeavours including: real estate investing, day-trading and private lending.  Seeking a creative outlet, Michael put his management skills to work in the film industry.  

With long-time friend Mark Mensing, Mr. Lyons explored the need for an export marketing facility in Canada based upon other successful models found throughout the Pacific Rim.  Since then, Michael has been President of the Canada Export Centre.

Frank Came has extensive experience in environmental and sustainable development activities, both in business and government.  Mr Came served as the BCEIA Executive Director (2005-2008) and is currently the Senior Advisor, Strategic Initiatives for the GLOBE Foundation. 

At the GLOBE Foundation, Mr. Came is involved in many projects related to sustainable development and the business of the environment.  He also serves as Editor of GLOBE-Net – a national online information service for the environment sector published by the GLOBE Foundation.

Eric Pringle | P.Eng

Eric Pringle is Vice President of Operations and Principal for Hemmera, a progressive consulting firm providing services in environmental sciences, engineering, life sciences, planning and management.  With a team of over 100 staff, Hemmera has offices located in Vancouver, Burnaby and Victoria where work on some of the largest and most challenging environmental projects in Western Canada transpires.

Mr. Pringle is an industry specialist in contaminated site remediation and brownfield redevelopment.  Since 1988, he has had the opportunity to lead signature and award winning projects and deliver results for his clients on large multifaceted undertakings and complex Brownfields with government and private sector clients.  Prior professional experience includes work with Conor Pacific Environmental Technologies, Water Technology International Corporation and Gartner Lee Limited.

Professional affiliations include the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC; the Association of Professional Engineers, Geoscientists & Geophysicists of Alberta; the Consulting Engineers of BC; the Canadian Green Building Council & Centre for Sustainable Communities Canada; and the National Brownfields Association BC.

Mike Mysak has been involved in hazardous materials consulting and remediation for over twenty years.  He has been with Golder Associates as a Senior Project Manager and Business Development Manager for the last two years. 

Mike has been involved in: hazardous materials assessment; major remediation projects; development of management systems; tools and training for technical personnel and managers for commercial, industrial and institutional clients.  In addition to project management for small and large scale projects, Mike is experienced in management of asbestos, lead, PCBs, mould, and mercury. 

Mr. Mysak’s education includes an MBA earned at Athabasca University, Alberta.  Energy, carbon management and environmental technologies are issues which Mike has conducted research on and are of ongoing interest to him.
