Biofiba Canada
What is Biofiba
CSIRO Press ReleaseBiofiba® is a patent pending 'Green Eco
Composite' comprising, organic starches, binding agents and
cellulose fibre sourced from commercially grown, renewable,
non-food crops.
The Biofiba® flag ship product is Biofiba88® specifically
formulated to produce an extruded simulated timber alternative for
high volume production of biodegradable Biopallets® that will, by
design decompose naturally into a harmless, safe, and potentially
valuable, garden mulch that will not contaminate land fill, or
damage the environment.
Biofiba88® developed with the assistance of the CSIRO is a
combination of natural fibre sourced from industrial grade bast
fibre plants. Hemp is a bast fibre and one of the strongest natural
fibres known to man. Biofiba hemp® is a modified plant species
grown and harvested by Biofiba® contracted rural produces and
blended with biopolymer natural starches and compostable certified
binders by a Biofiba® pelletising extruder into a base composite
pellet that when produced are insoluble in water. Biofiba®
pelletising operations suppling licensed Biopallet® manufacturers
are globally strategically located right at the source of the
supply of base raw materials.
It's from the Biofiba88® pellets that the Biopallet® planks are
made using a Biofiba Extruder®. The Biofiba Extruder® has been
specifically designed to produce the planks in a variety of sizes
and formulations for the specific customer need.
The global pallet industry has begun to promote green initiatives
and environmental claims are arising everywhere. A recent the State
of Green Business study conducted by Price Waterhouse found that of
1,753 environmental claims researched all but one, were either
false or misleading.
"These claims do not take into account that plastic begins its
life in an oil well, gets transported in an oil tanker like the
Exxon Valdez and, according to the USEPA, plastic production plants
have a heavy carbon dioxide footprint." Plastic pallets need to
meet necessary fire retardant standards and in doing so the
chemical, deca-bromine is used. The USFDA recently issued a warning
that this chemical is carcinogenic and can leach into the food
supply from the pallets carrying the cargo.
Biopallets® answers the growing demand for a tested and certified
green alternative to timber, cardboard, plastic and polystyrene.
The cost and environmental benefits that Biopallets® offers have
not been lost on the world's largest and most successful companies.
Premium quality users, customers, distributors, and manufacturing
partners continues to grow as world markets become ever more
conscious of the need for more cost effective and environmentally
friendly alternative for export pallet products.
The integrity of our forests and ecosystems are being eroded by
human misuse.
