Canadian Bio-Coal
Biocoal is created through a torrefaction process that heats
biomass primarily from waste-wood fibre which has essentially the
same BTU values as coal and the same physical qualities.
This means waste wood now has a value as a value-added product.
Various fibres, however, can also be used including those from
agriculture. There are various methods used for torrefaction.
In our case we use a non-polluting, low-energy Microwave
system.
Biocoal is recognized world-wide as a bio-fuel that can help reduce
emissions from many sources including coal-fired power
stations.
It is also finding uses in agriculture to replace some chemical
fertilizers.
