Global Bio-Coal Energy (GBCE), a Vancouver-based Company,
announced the construction and operation of its first commercial
facility in British Columbia (Canada), which will go into full
production in late summer 2012. The plant is the first of its
kind in the world that will convert wood waste, using a State of
the Art proven technology, into a Bio-Coal product to serve the
existing and emerging European, Asian and North American
markets.
The company selected the Wyssmont Turbo-Dryer® technology and
has obtained the exclusive right to use and market their
torrefaction unit. The Wyssmont unit is unique; it can both dry and
torrify the wood fibre. The plant can produce a Return on
Investment (ROI) in 1.5 years on an average investment of $20
million.
GBCE has chosen Vavenby B.C. in the Clearwater District of
Central B.C. to host its first commercial-scale Bio-Coal production
facility. The plant is 100% owned and operated by the
company. GBCE agreed to purchase part of a 130-acre site
formerly occupied by a Weyerhaeuser sawmill, that provides ample
room to accommodate the production facility and to expand as
required. In addition, sufficient fibre from local,
sustainable sources will ensure the plant can operate for at least
the next 20 years.
GBCE hired Noram Engineering and Constructors to design and
integrate the Wyssmont system into its turn-key Bio-Coal production
facility. This development has prompted GBCE to create a business
model that is both environmentally responsible and economically
viable.
GBCE has also entered into an Off-Take Agreement with Vitol
Broking Ltd of UK. Vitol among the world's top five trading and
distribution companies in energy, including oil, natural gas, coal
and many other commodities, is one of many coal-trading companies
that will be marketing our Bio-Coal in the European market.
