Camosun College Environmental Technology Program
The Environmental Technology Program at Camosun College is a multi-disciplinary, twenty-four month program with an additional eight months of work experience for those completing the Co-op option. The Program provides students with practical skills and techniques, coupled with environmental concepts and knowledge, which will enable them to work effectively in a support capacity whether in the field, office or laboratory.
The Program is nationally accredited by the Canadian Technology Accreditation Board (CTAB) of the Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists (CCTT) and provincially recognized by the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC).
Graduates have the option of moving from a skills-based education immediately into career-based environmental employment or pursuing more specialized education before seeking employment. They are directly employable as part of an environmental assessment team in the collection, collation and presentation of information for the purpose of environmental interpretation and decision-making.
Alternately, they can transfer to a university and pursue traditional degree programs in Biology, Geography or Environmental Studies. Special "Block Transfer" arrangements allow students to enter directly into the third year of Bachelor’s programs: the Environmental Science Program at Royal Roads University, the Environmental Engineering Program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) and the Environmental Health Program at BCIT.
