Dynamotive Energy Systems is focused on the development of innovative energy solutions based on its patented fast pyrolysis system. Through the application of fast pyrolysis, Dynamotive unlocks the natural energy found in the world’s abundant organic residues. Dynamotive’s technology economically converts biomass into a renewable, environmentally friendly fuel. Dynamotive has successfully demonstrated conversion of these residues into fuel known as BioOil, as well as char.

Dynamotive’s BioOil and char are produced using patented technology that converts forest and agricultural residues such as bark, sawdust and sugar cane bagasse into a liquid fuel. Unlike fossil fuels, BioOil is renewable, clean burning, low in emissions and is greenhouse gas neutral. As a clean fuel for power generation in gas turbines, diesel engines and boilers, BioOil presents significant market opportunities.

Dynamotive’s first commercial demonstration BioOil plant is located in West Lorne, Ontario. Using sawdust from Erie Flooring and Wood Products as feedstock for conversion to BioOil, Dynamotive combines its technology with Magellan Aerospace, Orenda division’s 2.5MW gas turbine to generate power for Erie Flooring and Wood Products while exporting excess electricity to Ontario’s electrical energy grid.

Dynamotive continues engineering procurement and fabrication of its 200TPD BioOil plant models which represents a doubling in biomass design capacity over the West Lorne model. Incorporated are a number of technological improvements, as well as cost saving developments.

The Company and its partners are also engaged in research and development on a range of derivative products that, if successful, would further enhance the market and value for BioOil as an alternative fuel, including transport fuels, and product source.
