Join us for breakfast and some food for thought! The    BCEIA Brownfield Committee and    Ms. Sandy Blue, Manager of Strategic Economic Initiatives, District of Maple Ridge invite you to join us for an engaging discussion on creating and implementing a successful municipal redevelopment incentive program.

Municipal incentive programs are traditionally more akin to discount or clearance sales of undesirable/under-utilized properties. To benefit from, these discounts, developers must navigate lengthy and complex application processes; often with limited success.

The proven success of the Maple Ridge program takes a different approach. The program is focused on the goal of achieving the vision of a vibrant Town Centre, increased investment, and accelerated growth, rather than focusing on a property's past (such as contamination or state of disrepair). While not specifically focusing on brownfield properties, this creative and simple program has resulted in the redevelopment of a significant number of brownfields.
