Environment Industry Mission to Beijing CONFIRMED

The BCEIA will be co-sponsoring an environment industry mission to Beijing for Technology Week, May 19th-24th in partnership with the British Columbia Technology Industry Association (BCTIA), The GLOBE Foundation and the 2010 Commerce Centre. Technology Week will be held at the BC-Canada Pavilion as part of an ongoing series of Olympic-related activities leading to the 2010 Games in Vancouver.

Canadian companies are considered leaders in clean energy and environmental technology and China is very keen to do business in this sector. This mission will be a great opportunity to meet with environmental business leaders and decision makers in China. Please note BCEIA and the GLOBE Foundation will be developing an additional program of activities for companies participating in the BCEIA-GLOBE Environmental Mission. More

Hazardous Waste Never Looked So Good!
BCEIA is pleased to announce the launch of a new Internet Portal dedicated to Hazardous Waste Management in British Columbia. This website was developed as part of the Compliance Improvement Initiative undertaken by BCEIA with the support of the BC Ministry of Environment. The site contains detailed Fact Sheets related to the generation, transportation and processing of hazardous waste materials and they provide quick, industry-specific reference information and tips on how to ensure full compliance with Ministry regulations.  BCEIA will also be conducting half day industry-specific workshops on hazardous waste management. Over the next few weeks, Jeff Eltom, a new member of the BCEIA staff, will have the pleasure of making your acquaintance as part of the 2008/2009 BCEIA Business Directory update.  For some BCEIA Members who may have overlooked payment of their 2007-8 Membership Dues this may also be an excellent time to renew your annual memberships. 2008 promises to be yet another banner year for the business of the environment.

BC Ministry of Environment is Seeking Your Views
The BC Ministry of Environment is reviewing and revising the Hazardous Waste Regulation (HWR) of the Environmental Management Act (EMA).  Interested BCEIA Members are invited to provide stakeholder comments before February 15, 2008.  See Here for further details.

WaterTech 2008
The Environmental Services Association of Alberta (ESAA) has drafted an agenda for its inaugural WaterTech Symposium 2008 (April 16-18, 2008.  Billed as the premier water technology transfer event for environmental professionals,   WaterTech is a 2-day event spawned from the very popular RemTech series.  BCEIA Members are invited to participate and will find more details at the ESAA homepage. 

23rd ANGEL Forum Vancouver
The semi-annual Angel Forum is back! On April 29, 2008 30+ pre-screened technology, service and manufacturing companies will have the chance to present their business to 70+ private equity investors.  Clean-Tech is high on the agenda, while investor preferences are for both tech and non-tech companies at the starting sales stage with good investor demand for in-development stage or established sales stage of operations.  BCEIA Members are offered preferred rates and can use the coupon code ‘BCEIA’ when registering online at www.angelforum.org.
