Visit of Thai Business Development Experts
The Thailand Board of Investment is preparing an investment promotion program for a delegation from Thailand that will be available to visit with environment sector companies in Vancouver during 24-26 July. The Roster Steering Committee of the Contaminated Sites Approved Professionals Society will offer an October 2007 sitting of the Approved Professionals Examination. Amendments to the Contaminated Sites Regulation
Stage 5 amendments to the Contaminated Sites Regulation came into effect on July 1st, 2007. Key changes involve simplification of the fees regime signaling a further shift in the ministry's focus towards high risk sites and paving the way for Approved Professionals to take on greater responsibilities in administering and managing contaminated sites in B.C. The amendments bring into force provisions for Summaries of Site Condition which will be required with all service applications submitted to the ministry through the Approved Professional process.

Canada needs contaminated sites workforce
It will take a large community of workers with specialized and unique competencies to do the work that's required to reclaim Canada's contaminated sites for future generations, according to a recent report by ECO Canada. The report, Who will do the cleanup? provides insights into the labour demand for both federal and non-federal contaminated sites cleanup activities in Canada.

Xantrex receives $4.5M from SDTC for wind converter
Xantrex Technology Inc. has signed an agreement for a contribution of up to CDN$4.5 million with Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC), a not-for-profit foundation created by the Government of Canada to fund and foster Canadian clean and sustainable technologies.
