BCEIA at GLOBE 2008

Canada’s most prestigious International Conference and Trade Fair on the Business of the Environment, Vancouver GLOBE 2008 will host more than 10,000 participants, 2,000 conference delegates, 400 exhibitors, 200 speakers and dozens of international delegations from over 80 countries.

As part of the BCEIA continued efforts to support and promote its membership, the Association is busy coordinating a number of GLOBE 2008 related activities for its Members. Visiting trade delegations from China, Korea, U.K., U.S. and elsewhere, have expressed an interest in meeting with BCEIA Member companies on an individual basis. BCEIA (in concert with its sister Associations, ONEIA, ESSA, SEIMA) is planning an event to accommodate them and asks those Members interested to please contact the Association’s Event Coordinator jeff.eltom@bceia.com

BCEIA is pleased to announce that there will be a dedicated BCEIA booth at GLOBE 2008. This booth will be in a prime location outside of the tradeshow floor area and manned throughout the event by a rotating group of BCEIA staff, Board Members and Volunteers. BCEIA Members are encouraged to bring their company’s hand-out material and marketing copy to be made available for GLOBE attendees at the booth directly.

UPCOMING EVENT

wedcWestern Economic Diversification Canada (WD) and the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) are working in partnership to bring international market specialists from the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service in North Asia on a tour of Western Canada. BCEIA Members are invited to attend a briefing by the members of the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service based in China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, and to meet one-on-one with the Commissioners to discuss the market opportunities in their regions on March 3rd and 4th in Vancouver.

Environment related priority sectors for the presentations and meetings include Environment and Natural Resources Technologies, Life Science and Biotechnology. Export-ready companies looking to do business or establish strategic partnerships in North Asia should attend these sessions. Pre-registration required. BCEIA - GLOBE Mission to Beijing CONFIRMED

Beijing MissionThe BCEIA will be co-sponsoring an environment industry mission to Beijing for Technology Week, May 19th-24th in partnership with the British Columbia Technology Industry Association (BCTIA) and the 2010 Commerce Centre. Technology Week will be held at the BC-Canada Pavilion as part of an ongoing series of Olympic-related activities leading to the 2010 Games in Vancouver.

Canadian companies are considered leaders in clean energy and environmental technology and China is very keen to do business in this sector. Suffice to say, this mission is a great opportunity for BCEIA Members and others to meet environmental business leaders and decision makers in a most unique setting. BCEIA and the GLOBE Foundation will be developing an additional program of activities for companies participating in the BCEIA-GLOBE Environmental Mission. Details will be forth coming.

Key Information Session

bcThe Western Canada Regional Offices of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT), in collaboration with DFAIT Houston, Seattle and San Francisco, will be hosting an information session titled: The U.S. Renewable Energy Market: Trends and Opportunities
Date: March 14, 2008, 07:45-09:45 hrs, Ballroom A, Fairmont Waterfront

Sponsored by the Manitoba Environment Industries Association (MEIA), the event will feature two key presenters who will share their expertise on trends and opportunities in the U.S. renewable energy sector, while a third presenter will highlight sector-related Venture Capital opportunities in the American market. IMPORTANT: Note that Canadian and American exhibitors and delegates representing private sector interests and industry associations will be given priority consideration for attending this event.

Future Region Sustainability Dialogue - Waste Management

Metro Vancouver partners with Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade from across the region to bring an expanded dialogue on the Future of Sustainability in the Region. The topic of this event is Waste Management, specifically waste reduction and the maximization of reuse, recycling and energy recovery. Location: SFU Wosk Centre for Dialogue, 580 W.
