VANOC's Buy Smart purchasing program

On June 19th a stakeholder consultation session will be held on VANOC's Buy Smart purchasing program for Sustainability & Aboriginal participation with members of the environmental supplier community. The goal of the meeting is to obtain stakeholder feedback to inform future improvements to VANOC's sustainable purchasing program, Buy Smart. The session will help identify issues and opportunities and proactively address them; collect ideas for specific improvements to the Buy Smart program and implementation tools; and keep stakeholders informed of VANOC's sustainable purchasing goals and activities

BCEIA has been asked to invite up to 5-7 constituents from our environmental supplier communities to participate in this session to offer insights on how effective the Buy Smart process and procurement tools (e.g. questionnaires, codes of conduct, etc.) will be at leveraging up sustainability activity within the purchasing and contracting process.

In total about 15-20 participants representing suppliers of environmental products (that would potentially have a Games application), green energy technologies, clean and waste service providers and the related equipment / products, will be attending. The meeting will take place from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm on June 19th, 2007 at a location in downtown Vancouver (the specific venue is still being confirmed).

Organizations or individuals that wish to be involved in these stakeholder consultations are asked to contact the BCEIA Executive Director, Frank Came at 604-683-2751 or via e-mail at frank.came@bceia.com
