Environment Minister Launches 2007 Arbor Vitae Awards
Nominations are now open for the 2007 B.C. Ministry of Environment Awards - the Arbor Vitae Awards. "This is a very exciting time for the Ministry of Environment and for British Columbia," said Environment Minister Barry Penner. "The environment is front and centre on the global stage. We have created these awards to acknowledge British Columbians whose hard work, dedication and commitment are helping our province lead the world in sustainable environmental management."
The Arbor Vitae Awards acknowledge individuals whose hard work, dedication and commitment make a difference in the betterment of B.C.'s environment. Nominees "make a difference" through their commitment to, and work on one or more of a variety of aspects of environmental protection and stewardship, such as environmental sustainability, climate change, habitat restoration, protection of species and ecosystems, and resource conservation. They "make a difference" in their communities and to the province as a whole either through their hands-on work, or through educating or promoting the benefits of sound environmental practices.
