Canada’s Economic Action Plan Team BCEIA were in attendance for the Federal Government’s Economic Action Plan information session held at the Fed’s Library Square (Vancouver) offices recently. Announced in the 2009 Budget, the “Plan”, is aimed at quick economic recovery and long-term growth and is expected to provide a timely and targeted stimulus to the Canadian economy. Representatives from Public Works & Government Services Canada (PWGSC) outlined work priorities for federal facilities in the Pacific Region (BC and Yukon) under the Federal Government’s Accelerated Infrastructure Program. PWGSC also presented information on the regional program of work related to the Federal Contaminated Sites Action Plan and the national program of work related to the Engineering Assets portfolio. Representatives from SNC-Lavalin ProFac (PWGSC's service delivery provider for real property services) also provided information on contracting opportunities in federal government buildings that they manage. Defence Construction Canada (DCC) covered those programs aimed at addressing federal infrastructure requirements at DCC, while Western Economic Diversification provided highlights from upcoming programs being delivered under the Economic Action Plan including: the Community Adjustment Fund and the Recreational Infrastructure Canada program.
