GeoEnviroPro Webinar: Dry Cleaners in the Neighbourhood – Investigation and Remediation
March 6 & 8, 2018 9 – 10 AM PST

Dry cleaners now rank among our most prevalent high-risk sites.  How did this happen, and what can we do about it?  Answers to these questions may appear obvious, but when we drill down we soon find that the science behind the problem is complex and the range of possible engineering solutions is daunting.  In this two-part series you will learn about the history of dry cleaner operations, chemical use, common and not-so-common sources of contamination to the subsurface, relevant fate and transport processes, and the latest in effective remediation and risk management strategies.

This two-part webinar on dry cleaners will cover the following areas:

  • The five generations of dry cleaning machines
  • Historic and current solvent types and usage
  • Common modes of chemical release to the subsurface
  • Effective site characterization strategies and best practice
  • Source zone depletion and elimination
  • Remedial approaches such as ISCO, ISCR, SVE/AS, ZVI and others
